CCIM: Your aeroponic system of cultivation is something the company prides itself on. As this seems like quite the change from traditional practices, it has definitely peaked my curiosity. Can you shed some insight into what the process is, and why you’ve chosen this route for cultivation?

JWCA: Aeroponics describes a hydroponics process where the roots are suspended in air and misted with a specialized nutrient solution. This maximizes the health of the plant by supplying an ideal root-zone environment on a continuous basis. The GrowthStormTM system, JWC’s proprietary aeroponic platform, has patents pending on a variety of innovative methods in this field, making it one of the most advanced systems for cannabis cultivation in the world.

CCIM: How do your yields using aeroponics compare to traditional methods?

JWCA: GrowthStormTM provides optimum root-zone conditions, and optimized growth will always result in higher yields. Our yields are among the best in the industry, on certain strains we can exceed 350 grams per square foot per year.

CCIM: How does aeroponics help the bottom line?

JWCA: Maximizing yields and minimizing crop loss will always help the bottom line, but the subtler advantage of our system is the reduction in cost. We use no substrate, which is a major expense for most producers. We use a small fraction of the water consumed in traditional methods, and we use less nutrients than any other type of cultivation. The system itself is not that expensive to build and can run for years with only minor cleaning and maintenance.

CCIM: Are there any thoughts of licensing this technology to other LP’s interested in advancing their cultivations processes?

JWCA: We are excited for the opportunity. We are a technology company in many ways, and we believe we have developed unique and advantageous solutions to almost all aspects of the cannabis cultivation process. We welcome any enquiries in this regard and would be happy to discuss the opportunities further.

CCIM: We’ve visited LP’s that have chosen to configure its facility in one large grow room, and others, such as yourself, with seven separate grow rooms. Can you explain the reasoning for choosing this method versus one large room?
