While tough fights and close decision losses could push a lesser man away from the sport, Lafreniere has used these setbacks to grow and mature as a fighter. "Experience with tough fights, tough decisions, and tough sparring partners, has made me stronger mentally," insists the champion.
With the Morrow bout now in his rear-view mirror, Lafreniere has won seven consecutive fights, including two Canadian Championship contests. He's also started making a stir internationally, stopping former African Boxing Union Champion Mohammed Akrong in the eighth and final round earlier this year. So what comes next? "I want two or three more good wins," explained Lafreniere, "then I want a North American title fight." Here's hoping he gets his wish.
