Before the treatment starts, the medical estheticians will press a handheld
laser instrument to your skin. Often depending on the type of the laser, a
cooling device on the top of the instrument or a cooling gel would be used
to protect the skin.
The hair in the area to be treated will be trimmed using scissors. You will
be given special goggles to wear to protect your eyes from the laser beam.
When the laser is activated it will pass through your skin to the tiny follicles
where the hair growth originates.
The time taken for the treatment may depend on the area itself. If it is a
small area like the upper lip then it might take a few minutes, otherwise, if
it is your back then it might take hours.
The results of the treatment vary from person to person and the area
treated. You would be advised by the doctors to take certain precautions
for the treatment to heal.
Although hair removal effectively slows growth, it does not guarantee
permanent hair removal. It would normally take multiple treatments to
provide a longer hair free period.
