DAY 1 Fly to Anchorage On arrival make your own way to your hotel.
DAY 2 Anchorage / Denali National Park
Collect your hire car and set your SatNav for Denali National Park, on the first leg of what’ s sure to be a very memorable roadtrip. Perhaps divert along the way for a stop in the charming pioneer town of Talkeetna( approx 237 miles).
DAY 3 Denali National Park
As much of the Park Road leading into the heart of Denali is not open to private vehicles, the best way to explore is by bus. So hop aboard and enjoy the chance to absorb the spectacular natural scenery, including majestic Mount McKinley( North America’ s tallest peak) and hopefully spot some wildlife along the way too.
DAY 4 Denali National Park / Fairbanks
Today’ s route takes you along the Parks Highway which leads through small towns and stretches of wilderness. Fairbanks itself is known for its Gold Rush heritage and taste of frontier living. If time allows, why not try your hand at panning for gold( 125 miles).
DAY 5 Fairbanks / Tok
Drive along the Alaska Highway to Tok, an outdoor lover’ s paradise( 206 miles).
DAY 6 Tok / Dawson City
Prepare for breathtaking views as you travel along the scenic Top of the World Highway. Linking Alaska with the Yukon Territory, it’ s known for its high elevation, sweeping vistas and historic towns( 185 miles).
DAY 7 Dawson City
Spend the day as you choose in this eclectic town in the heart of the Klondike. Boasting a mixture of First Nations Heritage and Gold Rush history, there’ s also a thriving arts scene. Attractions include Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall, Dawson City Museum, Dredge No 4 National Historic Site and paddle wheeler cruises along the Yukon River.
DAY 8 Dawson City / Whitehorse
Hit the road once more, and prepare to travel through some of the world’ s most untouched and rugged wilderness as you head for Whitehorse( 333 miles).

DAY 9 Whitehorse / Skagway
One of the most popular touring routes in the Yukon, today’ s spectacular drive will have you reaching for your camera at almost every bend in the road. We recommend a stop at the dazzling turquoise-hued Emerald Lake, or perhaps test your nerve at the Yukon Suspension Bridge above the Tutshi River Canyon, before you reach Skagway( 109 miles).
DAY 10 Skagway / Haines Junction
Head back to Whitehorse before heading on the Alaska Highway to Haines Junction, the gateway to Kluane National Park and Reserve( 209 miles).
DAY 11 Haines Junction / Tok
You’ ll cross the border once more as you head back to Tok. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as you travel and perhaps stop at Beaver Creek which is Canada’ s most westerly community( 297 miles).
DAY 12 Tok / Wasilla / Palmer Area
It may be hard to believe, but there’ s still more scenic vistas to soak up on today’ s leg of the journey. Wasilla, which is surrounded by the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains, enjoys a picturesque setting between Lake Lucille and Lake Wasilla. Nearby Palmer is a blend of farming community and alpine paradise( 290 miles).
DAY 13 Wasilla / Palmer area / Seward
Head south to the seaside town of Seward, passing between the dramatic shorelines of Turnagain Arm and the jutting peaks of the Chugach Mountains. Seward is sure to delight those who like kayaking, hiking, whale and glacier viewing, plus there’ s bustling shops and a charming Main Street( 167 miles).
DAY 14 Seward / Anchorage
If time allows, spend a while in nearby Kenai Fjords National Park, before you return to the bright lights of Anchorage( 127 miles).
DAY 15 Anchorage
Return your hire car at the airport where your tour concludes with your onward journey.
