Cupcake sale at UQ highlights
pay gap for women and other

I
t was supposed to be one of the
quieter moments on the University of
Queensland’s slate of Feminist Week
events. Madeline Price and her colleagues
at the UQ Union (UQU) were coming up
with ideas to fill some free space that was
open on Tuesday, between the altogether
meatier Women in Law Faculty event and
the Men in Feminism panel discussion,
when the idea for a bake sale dinged like an
oven bell in their collective minds.
Perhaps taking inspiration from similar
equality bake sales at US colleges, the UQU
inaugurated the Gender Pay Gap Bake Sale.
