GENERAL ADVICE

ON ADHESIVES

You may hang up your posters or flyers this year, but with a couple caveats.: You must use blue painter’ s or masking tape to affix your materials. You may only tape your papers in the dining or residence halls. You must take down your posters at the end of convention.

Give yourself plenty of time to make materials. Start as early as possible, seriously. You don’ t want to be scrambling to put your website together the day before convention( or worse, at convention!).

Make your campaign memorable. Trust me: most JCLers aren’ t going to individually remember 14 candidates’ speeches. So how do you boost your memorability rating? Graphically, use a color scheme. Just a color or two together can be fine. Alternatively, plaster your face everywhere( that’ s what I did on my flyers and website). This will also make it easier to make your materials. Finally, slogans and acronyms are your friends. But be creative about it. I, for example, used a Latin motto as my slogan.

Have fun! If you are not enjoying making a part of your campaign, consider cutting it. Make sure to create what you authentically like, not what others did.
