LET’ S MAKE MEDIA
This section of the Campaign Corner contains helpful information for making campaign materials, ranging from printed flyers to digital websites. Although the section itself is really unsnazzilicious as graphic design is not my passion, hopefully this section can provide advice to give your campaign a little extra flair. A few questions before we begin:
DO MY MATERIALS NEED TO BE APPROVED? Yes. You MUST send all campaign materials to the NJCL Parliamentarian and Constitutional Advisor before NomCom. Failure to do so may risk disqualification.
HOW MUCH CAN I SPEND ON MY CAMPAIGN MATERIALS? You can spend up to $ 50 on campaign materials. See the Campaigning Rules section( which you really should read if interested in candidacy) for more information on campaign budget restructions.
DO I NEEEEEEEEEEED CAMPAIGN MATERIALS THOUGH? No. You don’ t need flyers, posters, social media, etc. to have a successful campaign. Furthermore, while these materials can enhance your campaign by helping it reach more people, they can’ t replace a well-thought out platform and a passion for the JCL. And, most importantly, don’ t let making materials take the fun out of campaigning. I personally enjoyed making a meme-filled poster with my brother and had fun designing a website, but my flyers were not elaborate and I made no social media accounts. If a given medium is not your thing or you just don’ t have the time, you don’ t need to do much.
