Campaign Analysis

What was your favorite part of campaigning ?
I ’ m sure we sound like a broken record at this point , but even as someone who normally hates talking to people , meeting everyone was my favorite part . I had so many random conversations that had nothing to do with being a parliamentarian that were so enjoyable just because JCLers are the best .
What would you have done differently ?
I think I would have started preparing way earlier . I had a busier summer than I anticipated and so I made my flyers like two days before convention and I finished my poster board for Meet the Candidates the night before . Not the best time to do it and DON ’ T SACRIFICE YOUR SLEEP AT CONVENTION !
What tips do you have for speaking to people and / or giving your speeches ?
If you were there , you probably saw me literally stop in the middle of my speech for a second . I thought it would be the most embarrassing thing , but JCLers and the other candidates did nothing but encourage me . So my tips for speaking are thus : print your speech in large font ( and don ’ t change it day-of like I did ), rehearse a spiel about your campaign ( I used it for Meet the Candidates and anytime someone asked about my campaign ), and remember that JCLers are the best ( because they are ).
If nothing else , what tip should they take away ?
Have fun ! Specifically for parliamentarian , pay attention ! A lot of the job will happen during convention and obviously I haven ’ t done it yet but I think paying attention to all of the things Alden had to do during convention will be super helpful . I also recommend attending the Amendments Committee meeting because that is another thing you will have to run . Have fun though !!
