Campaign Analysis
What was your favorite part of preparing for your campaign ?
Making my website ! Website design is a really fun thing that I rarely have an excuse to do , so I jumped on the opportunity to nicely present my campaign . It also helped me flesh out my platform — typing everything out on a webpage was a great way for me to identify parts of my plans that were lacking in detail or execution .
What was your favorite campaign event ?
Definitely Meet the Candidates ! I got to have some great conversations with people , and it gave me a lot of confidence in my campaign .
What do you think was the strongest part of your campaign ?
Talking to people and getting to know them was a massive help . Campaigning requires interaction , so be social even if it ' s out of your comfort zone — and trust me ; it was WAY out of my comfort zone !
What in your campaign would you have done differently ? I would ' ve used QR codes to help my website reach more people .
What tips do you have for speeches ?
JCLers are kind people , and they ' re more interested in hearing about your platform than nitpicking how eloquently you speak . Remember , your audience wants to learn about you — not criticize you — so try your best to stay calm .
What ’ s one suggestion you have for candidates running for your office ?
If you have other people in your State delegation , ask them for help ! My fellow SCJCLers helped a lot with distributing flyers and sharing my platform . Meet the Candidates especially is a good event to have a helping hand , as you ’ ll have lots of people to talk to , questions to answer , and potentially flyers to give out .
