ADVICE FOR 1ST VICE PRESIDENT CANDIDATES
1ST VICE PRESIDENT'S MOST IMPORTANT DUTIES
HOW TO PREPARE FOR OFFICE
The 2nd Vice President is responsible for the Spirit and Service across the NJCL. Your first few months in office will be primarily focused on creating the Club of the Month themes, the COTM submission form, and the spirit and dance themes at Convention. Then, you will work with the 1st Vice President to plan National Classics Week (and Classicalia if you choose to continue it). The latter half of your term will be centered around planning the spirit and service events at Convention: Roll Call, Spirit, the national service project, and your officer colloquia.

ADVICE FOR EDITOR CANDIDATES
EDITOR'S MOST IMPORTANT DUTIES
HOW TO PREPARE FOR OFFICE
When campaigning on a national level it is important to get to know the state delegations that you will be representing if elected; I highly recommend attending social events such as the dances, mixers, or fun activities like escape rooms or scavenger hunts in order to make yourself known and better acquainted with the entire organization. In doing so and in preparation, always be confident in your platform and your campaign. If you are running for national office, chances are you are quite familiar with your duties, so don’t let minor upsets (for instance, I attended Open Forum in my car) affect your overall trust in yourself. Lastly, have fun! You are running for a position you love so be yourself and show your honest dedication.
The most important duty of the NJCL Editor is the publication of four editions of the Torch: U.S. It is vital to communicate regularly with your mentor, fellow officers, and fellow editors in order to best represent the NJCL in your publications. As with most editor positions, you must also write your own feature articles for each edition. Whether it be an article on ancient food or games, or an interview with a classicist, be sure to prepare and review your works well.
As you may know, the NJCL Editor uses Joomag as the main publication platform for the Torch: U.S. We do have a free Canva account which can be used, but I suggest familiarizing yourself with Joomag as soon as possible. The turn around for your first publication, the fall edition, is around one month, so be prepared and comfortable to attend many meetings, send mass emails, and work with the previous editor to get that edition out on time after being elected.
