NJCL Campaign Corner | Issue XV 4

General Assembly III

(Wednesday)

This general assembly is almost entirely devoted to campaign speeches. Constrain your speeches to three minutes. You may also have a friend or another delegate say a short introduction for you, but your speech and their introduction must be a total of three minutes or less. Take a deep breath and prepare to shine!

Candidates' Open Forum

(Thursday)

This is a formal question-and-answer session. The parliamentarian and current officers ask questions, which have been submitted by delegates, to each of the candidates. Be yourself as the delegates get to know you. States will meet to vote after the forum.

General Assembly IV

(Thursday)

Election results will be announced. Newly elected officers will receive further instructions. Whether you are elected or not, the process will be rewarding as you become friends with the many JCL'ers that you meet.

If you have any other questions about the process or otherwise, feel free to contact Amanda Hansen at parliamentarian@njcl.org

DRESS TO IMPRESS

Remember that all election events and on-stage appearances require formal business attire. However hot and humid it may be, failure to abide by these rules may result in disqualification.

Females

Dress skirt/dress slacks and dress blouse or a dress. Dress shoes and hosiery/trouser socks.

Males

Dress slacks, collar dress shirt, and necktie. Blazer or dress coat strongly suggested. Dress shoes and socks.

Note

No shorts, miniskirts, halter-tops, or tube tops are allowed. Remind the speaker giving your introduction on Wednesday of these rules.
