THE ROAD TO INAUGURATION
pages 2-4
Ubi concordia, ibi victoria, where there is unity, there is victory, is this year's convention theme. This proverb holds especially true for both NJCL officers and candidates. The National Officers champion the idea of accomplishing more as a united group. Candidates, too, can best attempt to sway the favor of a group of 2,000 people with the support of the state delegation and friends.
Running for office is a tremendous
commitment and possibly one of the
biggest decisions you’ll encounter in
your high school career. Even though a
campaign takes an incredible amount of dedication and energy, in the end it can be a truly rewarding experience.
Whether or not you are elected, you will have an amazing experience. People will call out your name, having seen you run around campus wearing your campaign stickers while laughing at your slogans. They'll read and memorize every detail about you in
the Convention Ear and listen intently to hear why you want to be on the
next NJCL Board.
Have you attended at least one NJCL
convention? Are you taking or have you taken all classics courses at your school? Talk to your local sponsor about running for national office!
The Campaign Corner is intended to
guide you through the campaign
process. “The Road to Inauguration”
provides a step-by-step guide on how to run for office, while “Campaigning 101" and “Tips & Tricks” are compilations of advice from current and previous officers to provide inspiration.
Of course, one of the best ways to learn about being a national officer or
running for an NJCL office is to talk to a current NJCL Officer. Feel free to email us with questions or concerns. Don't hesitate to call me with any of your campaign needs.
