Kids will love to see their creations in motion using LEGO® wireless remote controls. Each day, campers will use fascinating and challenging LEGO® components to create dynamic vehicles, inventions, machines and more. As they enjoy the fun of building, campers will understand the basic working principles of many ingenious devices that are part of our everyday lives. Campers will also learn how to magnify, diminish and redirect force to move objects at different speeds and in different directions. This camp is loads of LEGO® fun and learning for budding builders. Campers will recognize a family of incredible heroes, hero guardians in space, teen heroes, and of course their favorite classic heroes. Explore all the caped crusaders and discover their super powers. Build a fantasy world and protect it from enemies with custom contraptions made with LEGO® bricks. Strengthen your ninjutsu skills to defeat the villainous Shredder and his evil Foot Clan. Then they will learn how to collect and take action on the collected data. We'll also examine real-world connected devices by examining data from Tesla cars and explore different data visualizations. Full Day: $400M/$450NM Half Day: $330M/$380NM Week 9: August 12-16 Instructor: Tech Em Studios Junior celebrities in the making will spend the week learning the ins and outs of YouTube, and how to maintain their own YouTube channel! They will use various devices like iPads, mobile phones and digital cameras to record, edit and upload all the productions. They'll use various software, special FXs, and greenscreen tricks to add a professional touch to their creations. In addition, students will learn tips for growing their YouTube channels while staying safe online. And they'll leave with an optimized list of essential hardware and software needed to maintain their channel. Campers will need a valid Gmail account in order to upload to their own YouTube channel during the week. This can be done before camp with a parent/guardian; instructors will not be creating personal accounts for children. No account is needed to participate since all the videos can be uploaded to JCC or Tech Em Studios official YouTube channels at the completion of camp. Full Day: $400M/$450NM Half Day: $330M/$380NM ENG 4 Kids: Engineering Olympiad (K-5 th ) NEW! Instructor: Engineering 4 Kids Week 8: August 5-9 Who has the strength to be a world-class engineer? In this camp, students will separate into countries and will compete against opposing countries in various tests of mental and creative strength. The students will earn “medals” throughout the week and will endeavor to become the next great team of Engineering Olympians. Students will explore the fields of mechanical engineering, marine engineering, electrical engineering, and civil engineering as they participate in various challenges to strengthen their minds. We will create biomes from around the world, star gaze at constellations, master meteorology, investigate how things work and dabble in chemistry and physics. Full Day: $350M/$400NM Half Day: $280M/$330NM BRAIN GAMES Championship Chess (K-5 th ) Week 10: August 19-23 Instructor: Championship Chess/ Brian Garbero Championship Chess presents a systematic, fun way to build chess skills during chess instruction and while students play. Studies show that chess improves math, reading and problem-solving skills and our methods connect these academic benefits to our classes. Classes include instruction as well as chess play and guided analysis. Students will also be able to accomplish Achievement Cards online outside of the classroom.
