Week 10: August 17-21 Instructor: Liz Mehalko Campers will learn about Native American history and the important role spirit animals play in their culture. Campers will then go on a quest to discover their own spirit animal. Each spirit animal will be built with a form made from recycled materials covered with plaster gauze to create a unique and durable sculpture. Campers can embellish their sculptures with fur, yarn & a variety of other materials. Full Day: $300M/ $355NM Week 4: July 6-10 Get ready for an adventure in the world of Pokemon®! Capture wild Pokemon® creatures and train them for battle. Improve your accuracy and power as you learn new moves and use special abilities. Whether your child has attended our first session or not, reward him or her with the creativity and excitement this new camp has to offer. Campers will be challenged to bring their virtual designs to life by building new mob figures, mosaics and custom motorized models, incorporating LEGO® Bricks. So, are you ready for the challenge? Full Day: $300M/ $355NM Half Day: $230M/ $280 NM Week 7: July 27- 31 Grab your katanas and nunchucks as we prepare to fight crime with the Teenage Brick Turtles! Practice engineering as you build two of the courageous turtles and the wise Japanese rat sensei, Master Splinter, all with LEGO® bricks. Strengthen your ninjutsu skills to defeat the villainous Shredder and his evil Foot Clan. After a treacherous day of crimefighting, don’t forget to give the turtles a break to enjoy a pizza down in their sewer dwelling under the city. Working together to survive until they are rescued, they will create shelters, use water filtration systems, and study the animals and environment around them. Harnessing the sun’s energy to create solar cookers, they'll learn about the importance of replenishing what they take from their earth, the value of teamwork and more! Campers will build daily themed projects. Full day campers will creatively design & construct a two foot replica of their tree house shelter which will go home with them at the end of camp. This camp will cover programming structure, theory, best practices, and most importantly, hands-on application. Campers will finish the course knowing how software works: input/output, variables, conditionals, and lists. Older students will be introduced to modular programming, object-oriented programming, testing and debugging. The campers will conclude the camp by building their own app! Campers will be divided into two groups: elementary students and middle school. No previous coding experience necessary, but we welcome those with experience! Each day campers will be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous inventors and the most important thing of all… their mind. With a little bit of ingenuity they'll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate innovative flying contraptions, design their own gizmo prototypes, and will even assemble a working light saber to take home. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% fun!
