Swim Lessons and Open Swim
• Look for the swimming icon to find camps that offer swimming at one of the Glenview Park District outdoor aquatic centers. Campers will either walk as a group to the Glenview Park District pools or transportation will be provided on designated pool days.
• Safe swimming is our first concern.
• All campers must complete a swim test conducted by our Aquatics Staff. To pass, campers are required to swim two lengths of the dive well without goggles and without assistance.
• On the first day of camp or during a camp’ s initial scheduled visit to the pool, campers will participate in swim testing. Due to the time required for swim testing and the need for staff to organize swim groups for swimmers’ safety, there will be no open swim on the first day of the camp session.
• Certified lifeguards will determine if campers pass or don’ t pass the swim test.
• Campers who do not pass must wear a Park District provided life vest and may only swim in the zero-depth shallow area of the pool.
• Campers may be retested once per week.
• All swimmers are supervised by strategically stationed Glenview Park District trained camp staff in and around the pool.
• Camp staff are outfitted in special swim shirts so they are easily recognizable to campers, pool staff and other patrons.
