California TSA Newsletter September 2013 | Page 4

INTRO TO CALIFORNIA TSA In 1978, Technology Student Association began as a student run organization dedicated to spreading awareness of the STEM field. For over 30 years, TSA successfully expanded and reached all parts of the world, from the United States to Germany. However, never in those three decades has California joined the organization until 2011, when Diamond Bar High School became its very first chapter. In March 2013, California TSA successfully hosted its very first State Conference and qualifying members rushed on to celebrate TSA’s 35th anniversary at the National Conference in Orlando, Florida. Now, we are proud to introduce you to CA TSA’s first State Officer Team. We are an eclectic group of “orchi-dorks,” Science Olympians, and much more, but we are also all dedicated to one goal – spreading the awareness of the STEM field. The State Officer Team strives to be more than just unfamiliar faces. We plan to actively interact with the members across California in order to provide a supportive environment for all students. We, along with your help, hope to stress the importance of technology and encourage participation in STEM based education outside of the classroom. In order to inform our fellow California TSA members of our activities, we are publishing a newsletter on the first day of every month. On our newsletter, you will be able to find out what our officers have been up to lately, a TSA Dictionary to familiarize yourself with TSA lingo, and much more. We will also keep you on track for important dates and conference information. With our TSA newsletter, you will be able to connect with our officers and grow alongside CA TSA, so don’t miss out!
