{ Continued from page 14 } PITMAN FFA School Garden & Vineyard GUSTINE FFA Submitted by Hector Flores At the beginning of the school year Pitman FFA was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to manage the Pitman High School garden and vineyard. Throughout the year, our members visited the garden and vineyard and helped plant new crops to be harvested. Our members worked hard, and tirelessly to get the best out of this experience! Members of our chapter had the chance to prune the grapevines, which would later be turned into wine, and be used as thank you gifts for our supportive community members. This opened the eyes to many members because it gave them a sense of appreciation towards the agriculture industry and everything it has to offer! Pitman FFA members definitely got to live by the lines of the FFA motto “Learning to do, Doing to learn.” ______________________ FFA Point Awards Trip to AT&T Park Submitted by Nicholas Alamo Every Year the Gustine FFA Program grants twenty of its members the chance to attend a San Francisco Giants game. The decision to pick who goes on the trip is based on a point system that gives said points to those who participate the most in the program’s activities. This past week, Gustine FFA attended a Giants game against the Atlanta Braves, and even though the Braves won, the members still appreciated the lengths the advisors went through to get the kids to have a good time. This trip isn’t only a chance to admire the effort of the kids, but it’s also to acknowledge the hard work of the advisors inside and outside of school. We want to hear from your chapter! 1) Submit a 100-150 word article about a recent activity. a. Please do not include members’ or advisors’ names within the article. b. The article should be about an interesting/unique type of FFA activity.
