Note: Tylose powder is a necessary addition to fondant for modelling.
Step 2:
Roll a cone shape from
white fondant for the
babies body – then roll
two thinner log shapes for
legs. Taper these towards
one end and indent for
ankles. Roll two tapered logs
for arms. These should
be slightly thinner and
shorter than the legs.
Indent for wrists and
flatten the hands. Cut a
small triangular piece
from the hand to separate
a thumb. It should create
a ‘mitten’ shape. Step 3: Step 4a:
Shape feet by pressing
the bottom of the leg piece
upwards. Shape thighs
to fit cone body. Insert a
wooden skewer into keg
pieces for support. Fix legs to the body piece
inserting the skewers.
Dampen the skewers and
the area of the body that
the legs will attach to with
a damp paint brush.
Step 4b: Step 5a: Step 5b: Step 6a & 6b:
Fix the arms into place
dampening the areas of
contact with water. Roll a small sausage
shape for the baby’s
neck. Insert a dampened
toothpick through this
piece as pictured. With a ball tool make an
indent for the neck on the
body piece. Dampen the
area with a paintbrush
and fix the neck in place. Roll a ball of flesh toned
fondant for the head.
With your fingers pinch
the bottom of the ball for
a chin. Make an indent
across the middle of the
ball to create shape for
the forehead.
With the wider end of a
leaf shaping tool model a
noses shape.
