Step 1:
With a flat brush, paint
vertical patches of different
gel colours randomly.
Step 2:
Once the entire cake is
painted, let it dry for a
while.
Step 5:
Cut rectangular pieces of
parchment paper.
Step 6:
Apply very little
shortening entirely on one
side of the rectangular
parchment pieces.
Step 3:
Dip a big clean flat brush
in little clear alcohol,
remove excess, and
apply a single vertical
stroke from top to bottom
over the paint patches
just to blend in the colours Step 4:
Let it dry.

Step 7:
Stick the parchment
pieces on the painted
cake randomly keeping a
small gap between two.
The gap does not have
to be very exact in size
between pieces.
Step 8:
Once all the parchment
pieces are stuck, dip a
big clean flat brush in
little clear alcohol, remove
excess, and apply a
vertical stroke over the
entire cake. You may need
to apply additional strokes
to remove a little colour
from between the gaps.
This step will lighten the
colour in the gaps.
