Jesus never encouraged popularity. He very
strictly told people not to tell anyone when He
performed a miracle. Note the following verses:
Mark 1:43, 44 “Then Jesus sternly warned him
and encouraged him to go at once, saying to him, Be
sure that you don't tell anyone.”
Mark 3:12 “And he strictly ordered them not to
make him known.”
as an abomination.
Proverbs 3:32 “for the devious person is an
abomination to the Lord.”
God desires truth in our innermost being. How
often do we say something entirely different from
what is in our heart. Let us speak the truth from the
heart. Let us serve Him from the heart. Let us not be
worried about ''people's-opinion” but be concerned
about what God thinks.
Mark 5:43 “And he strictly charged them that
no one should know this.”
Mark 8:30 “And he strictly charged them to tell
no one about him.”
Let us be careful while reporting what God did
through us. Many of today's ministries follow what can
be called as, 'Hyper-Media Projection.' Their
ministerial reports are exaggerated. They want to
create a hype that God is working (only) through them.
But the reality might be entirely different. Let us report
what happened without any exaggeration, and
sometimes not reporting would be a better option.
Also, there is nothing wrong to report ministerial
failures. Let God's Name alone be glorified. Let us not
build a cultic personality. Let us minister like the salt.
It gives taste but it remains invisible. We do not see its
presence but we can feel its absence.
3. Serving Sincerely
Mat 5:19,20 “Therefore whoever relaxes one of
the least of these commandments and teaches others to
do the same will be called least in the kingdom of
heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will
be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you,
unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Scribes
and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of
heaven.”
When we do something from our heart, we term
it as a 'sincere' act. God delights in such services. We
need to serve the Lord with all our heart. God will not
accept half-hearted service. Our thoughts, words and
actions must be on the same line. When there is a
difference in any of these three things, the Bible calls it
Psa 51:6 “Behold, you delight in truth in the
inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret
heart.”
For every action of ours let us ask this question,
'Why am I doing this?', 'Why did I speak in such a
way?' The 'Why?' of our action is very important. It
gives a fair idea of how sincere we are.
In front of people, we might put up a show, but
God knows our innermost being. There must not be
any other motivation for ministry. The Glory of God
must be our only goal.
Psa 32:2 - “Blessed is the man against whom the
Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no
deceit.”
When we have one thing in our hearts and
behave in a different way, God will not be pleased.
This was what Jesus taught as the “leaven of the
