bymonline.org | November 2018 Servi n g t h e Lor d w ith Jason, Missionary, Blessing Youth Mission God has a calling and a ministry for each and everyone of us. Some serve Him full-time while others serve Him along with their secular profession. We all are called to serve God in one way or the other. We serve Him in different capacities as a helper, volunteer, office-assistant, prayer group leader, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, ladies group leader, choir group leader, Pastor, Missionary etc., As we serve the Lord, we should never forget that 'Integrity' should be the hallmark of our ministry. Many are successful in their ministries but only a few are faithful. 'Success' is not the yardstick by which we measure a Ministry. 'Faithfulness' is all that matters to God. I believe faithfulness and integrity of heart go hand in hand. This is the virtue which will decide how effective our ministry is. I want to list out five areas in which we need to have integrity while serving the Lord. 1. Serving in a Small Way All true service starts in a 'small' way. “Who can despise the day of small beginnings” (Zec 4:10). In God's dictionary, the meaning of 'small' and 'great' are entirely different. We should never despise something or somebody for being 'small.' The seed is small and insignificant, but when nurtured it grows into a huge tree bringing blessing to many. Mat 13:31,32 “Another parable he proposed to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard-seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge on its branches.” Integrity is closely associated with 'small things.' Someone rightly said, 'Small is beautiful.' But in this materialistic world that we live in, we are always excited over big numbers and large crowds. But, the Kingdom principle is entirely different. Today we need personal counselors to meet the needs of the people. One-to-One evangelism is the best form of evangelism. Stage preachers have multiplied but personal counselors are becoming a rare species. There are so many people out there waiting for us. Let us take time and talk to them. Let us not be carried away by large meetings and gatherings. Those are necessary occasionally, but we need to serve God in a small way too. page 7
