But we cannot keep on telling the younger generation
that, 'we used to walk 25kms; we used to walk 25
kms.' If we do, instead of being an encouragement to
them, it would create feelings of guilt. Times have
changed and so did the challenges and opportunities.
3. Transparent With Our Spouse
Everything between the husband and his wife
should be transparent. Nothing should be done in
secret. Give your partner total access to your inner
world. Let your partner know what sites you are
visiting in the Internet and with whom you talk over
phone. Don't take your mobile phones into the
bathroom. Let us avoid such type of secrecy in our
family life. We need to have peace in our homes. If
there is no peace in our homes, how can we be
effectively witness for God. I have great admiration
for a couple in the Bible Zechariah and Elizabeth.
and wrote, “His name is John.” And they all
wondered.”
We too need to be transparent with our spouse
like them. We need to share all the happenings
travels, joys, successes, failures, etc. Let us not hide
anything and let us not lead a double-life.
Also, in the Old Testament, we find a
transparent couple - Abraham and Sarah. They
shared the vision, struggles and the difficulties
together. Only when you share everything with your
spouse, you will receive full cooperation from
him/her.
4. Transparent About Weaknesses
We all have troubles in our spiritual lives.
Whether we are more experienced or less
experienced, we face various kinds of struggles. We
need to be transparent with regard to these struggles.
Apostle Paul was very open about his struggles. He
even admits the spiritual struggles that he faced.
Rom 7:15 “ For I do not understand my own
actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very
thing I hate.”
Note the following verses:
Lk 1:60 - “But his mother answered, “No; he
shall be called John.”
Lk1:63 - “ And he asked for a writing tablet
We as Christian leaders are like a ladder. People
should climb over us and proceed to higher levels of
spirituality. People should know that we are also frail
human beings. God did not reject Peter when he
denied the Lord three times. Let us not condemn
anybody or pull down anyone. Let us help people to

Zechariah was ministering in the temple of the
Lord. Both Zechariah and Elizabeth were good
communicators. The angel of the Lord told that he
could not speak for a time due to his unbelief. But in
spite of this, they could share and talk. It is for this
reason Elizabeth could boldly tell that the name
should be John.
In the above verse, he says that he did not
understand his own actions. A man whom God used
as an instrument to pen down 13 New Testament
epistles, admitted that he could not understand all the
things. We are not transparent with people thinking
that they might misunderstand us. Christian life is not
struggle-free. Most of us have struggles in our prayer
life. Sometimes we testify that we used to pray early
in the morning. But there were many times we have
failed and we do not reveal that. We try to create a
super-spiritual-hero status. People were eager to go
near Paul because he was transparent about his
personal weaknesses.
