Saritha & Somasundaram
Missionary Lifesketch-26
I was born and brought up in a Hindu family. I am from Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu. I have a sister and two brothers. I am the youngest son to my parents. Though I had my schooling in a Christian school, I did not know much about Christ. It was the year 1996, when I studied Diploma in Civil Engineering. By God ' s providence, I came in touch with a friend, Suresh. His life and testimony attracted me so much that we became good friends. He led me to Christ. Praise God!
Though I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour, I did not surrender my life completely to Him. In the year 2000, I had a personnel encounter with the Lord Jesus and committed my life by taking baptism on May 14.
I began to testify about Jesus Christ wherever I went. In the year 2002, I attended Halo( The camp organized by BYM for boys) for the first time in Sitteri Hills. There I committed my life for full time missionary work. By this time I was working as a Field Engineer in a private cement company.
In the year 2006, I resigned my job and joined Blessing Youth Mission as a full timer. I was placed in Aranoothu Hills. It is an interior mission field in Tamil Nadu. When I was serving God in this mission field, He burdened me for the unreached tribals of North East India.
Saritha had a skin disease and was suffering for a year. God healed her miraculously through prayers. She immediately committed her life to Jesus.
In the year 2003, she attended Aroma in Sitteri Hills( The girls camp organized by BYM), where she committed her life for full time missionary work. She was then working as a Teacher in a private school. She joined Blessing Youth Mission in the year 2004.
Soon after marriage, within a period of 3 years, our leaders proposed us to go to Assam. We Knew it was the Lord ' s doing and we consented immediately. We shifted to Assam in 2008.
We were involved in Revival, Youth and Literature ministry in Jorhat area. Later on we moved to Majuli Island and toiled there for nearly two years. It ' s a great privilege for me to work as pioneering church planter in Assam. In the year, 2013 we were able to plant the first Church in the Island( The history of this church is given in page number 14). Presently we are in Jorhat to look after and to coordinate the Assam State ministry.
God has blessed us with two children, Stephanas( 8 Years) and Silvanas( 4 Years). Stephanasis studying in SanthosaVidhyalaya, Dohnavur. Uphold us in your prayers.
I got my better half, Saritha in the year 2007. She is also from a Hindu background. She has two elder sisters and one younger brother. In the year 2002, she came to know Christ through Mrs. Kavitha Ephraim, who used to visit their village for ministry( Mrs. Kavitha Ephraim is one of the women lay leaders of Tamil Nadu and is the wife of Mr. E. L. Ephraim).
