God says in Isaiah 43:21 “the people whom I
formed for myself that they might declare my praise.”
During Elijah's times the Israelites served both God
and Baal. Elijah chided them saying “How long will
you go limping between two different opinions? If the
Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow
him.” No one can serve two masters (Mt 6:24).
God is also asking us the same question.
Are you on God's side?
Will you stand for Him?
Though we live in this world, we should stand
for God and stand with God. We are not of the world
just as Christ is not of the world (John 17:14). Even as
captives in Babylon, Daniel and his friends refused to
compromise and bow down to an idol. They stood for
God. God expects the remnant today to show the
same zeal for His Name. God wants the church to be
his perfect one (Ss 6:9).We need to stand up for Jesus
like Joshua and Caleb. When the ten spies sparked
discouragement regarding the conquest of Canaan,
these two spoke in faith. They were duly rewarded
when God decreed that they shall be the only
members of that generation to enter Canaan. We
should be on God's side and take a stand for him.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout
the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose
heart is blameless toward him” (2 Chr 16:9). Today,
God is searching for people who will stand by Him
even if they have to forfeit their wealth, position,
family and life. For if we do our part and work for
God, He will do His part and provide our needs.
Today, the heart cry of God is, “Who will rise
up for me against the evildoers?” (Psa 94:16). We
either choose the multitude or stay with the remnant.
2.The Remnant Stands For Holiness
God has great plans for the remnant. Elijah kept
asking God to take his life blissfully ignorant of
God's plan to take him alive on fiery chariot. He had
so much more to accomplish. He had to anoint Elisha.
If you have been asking God to take your life, know
that He has a purpose for you and when it is fulfilled,
He will take you away to His loving embrace. Isa 33:14,15 - The sinners in Zion are afraid;
trembling has seized the godless: “Who amon g us
can dwell with the consuming fire? Who among us
can dwell with everlasting burnings?” He who
walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises
the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest
they hold a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of
bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking on evil.
Elisha anointed Jehu as king. Jehu set out to
cleanse Israel. Jezebel adorned herself to meet Jehu.
But Jehu called out “Who is on my side?” and told the
eunuchs to throw her down. We observe that Zion, the embodiment of God's
holiness, the abode of His saints, the chosen land
….was filled with sinners. We too might say that our
churches and workspots are filled with sinners.
