Who Am I In Christ?
D. Jason, Missionary, Blessing Youth Mission
(The final sermon delivered in the recently held Halo in Tamil Nadu)
Salvation is a free gift of God. But being saved
is no ordinary thing. Though it costs us nothing to be
saved, yet it costed the precious life of God's only
Son, Jesus Christ. Hence the Word of God terms it as
'such a great salvation' (Heb 2:3).
great privilege to become God's children and to call
Him, 'Abba, Father!' Is it not the greatest miracle of
all time and eternity, God adopting worthless sinners
as His children? (John 1:12,13; Rom 8:15).
Our position changes drastically once we
become a believer. We are no longer in the domain of
darkness (Isa 9:2) and under the bondage of sin (Isa
42:7). We are no longer under the authority of the
demons either (Acts 26:18).
As believers in Christ, we are entitled to
certain privileges and blessings. These 'spiritual
blessings' are naturally inherited when we are saved.
But the devil tries to keep us in blindness with regard
to these rich spiritual blessings. Ignorance of these
blessings may keep us in bondage and take us back to
our old life.
Note the following verses:
Eph 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with
every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”
Hence, a clear understanding of our position in
Christ is of paramount importance.

us and adopts us as His sons and daughters. What a
We are born of God and are adopted into His
family. We are a new creation. We are like new-born
babies. The old has passed away. New life has come
(2 Cor 5:17, Eph 4:24). Yes, God has come into our
life and has made everything new. We are His
children, His beloved children. God has caught hold
of us and no one can pluck us away from His hand.
We are safe in the shadow of the Almighty. What a
glorious life!
God has also seated us with Him in the
heavenly places.
