The first reference to the village was
registered in 1467. In 1498, it was burned
down by the Tatar hordes. Due to that the
residents of the village were exempted
from taxes as well as from the duty to
provide billets for soldiers. In 1512, the
king granted the same privilege to the
village again, which three years later was
totally devastated by the Vlachs and by
the Tatars. On the account of frequent
assaults, Polish king gave the order to
construct a defensive fortress not far
from the village. The construction of
the Tabor (such name was given to the
fortress) was completed in 1620. During
the times of assaults, the Tabor served
as a shelter for the residents of all the
neighbouring villages. Its walls were
fortified with artillery; inside there were
food storage facilities, also, the landlords’
valuables were kept there. In addition,
the Tabor had the facilities for powder
manufacturing. Apart from that, it
located the powder tower as well as the
