In 1962, Berezyna was incorporated
in Rozdil. A considerable part of
the village lands were taken for the
construction of a new big plant. The
same year, the church was closed;
however, the village resident did not
allow it be converted into a farm or a
warehouse as it was done with the most
churches. So, the building of the church
stayed locked, and was visited only by
women who came there to clean.
On November 5, 1988, the village
meeting was convened that adopted
the decision to seek the restoration
of the old administrative borders of
Berezyna. On February 7th, 1991, the
Executive Committee of Lviv Oblast
Council
introduced
amendments
to the administrative and territorial
arrangement of Mykolaiv Rayon, with
Berezyna Village Council being set up.
The same year, Berezyna incomplete
secondary school became a full-fledged
secondary one. In the years 1992–1993,
the construction of the public cultural
centre has been started (which has not
been completed yet).
On August 23rd 1992, the monument
to the warriors of the UPA was
inaugurated. On October 13th, on the
occasion of 140th anniversary of the
birth of Ivan Franko, the monument to
the poet was unveiled near the school.
In 2000, the second Orthodox Church
(Kyiv Patriarchate) was consecrated. In
2009, the 570th anniversary from the date
of the first written reference to the village
was celebrated. Now, the population of
Berezyna amounts to 2,127 people.
Monument to count
Kazimierz Rzewuski
It looks like that the residents of
Berezyna lived in peace with their
landlords. Even after the abolishment
of selfdom in 1864, the memorial sign
with thanks from the village community
to landlord Kazimierz Rzewuski was
erected that has the following inscription
“This monument is dedicated to the
almighty Kazimierz, count Rzewuski,
royal clerk, benefactor of the community,
real patron of Rus people”.
Rift
The rift is a ripple of the river bed.
Usually, the rift is made of alluvium or
stream deposits, mainly containing sand
and gravel as well as variety of other
materials, such as fine particles of silt and
clay. The rift crosses the river bed, and
has the shape of a descent, either gradual
or steep one. Rifts are characteristic of
meandering rivers; often, they are located
in the places of river bed widening, closer
to its mouth tributaries.
Mostly, rifts move down the river with
floods. The speed of such movements can
vary from a few dozens of centimetres to
hundreds of metres per year.
Rozvadiv
The village is located of the left bank
of the Dniester, three kilometres away
from Mykolaiv; its population amounts
3, 210 persons. As it was revealed in the
course of archaeological excavations,
people settled down at this area as early
as in the Palaeolithic age (2,000 BCE).
