The man with the voice, Sir David Attenborough, will be delivering a speech for Cardiff University this month. On Wed 18 Sept Sir David himself will be giving a lecture as part of a series of events marking the centenary of the death of Alfred Russel Wallace. Welsh-born Wallace has been described by Sir David as “one of the greatest of all field naturalists”, so listen up. Despite being the world’s most famous scientist at the time of his death, Wallace’s achievements have since been overshadowed by those of Charles Darwin. As co-founder of the theory of evolution and father of biogeography Wallace certainly deserves to be known to the masses. The lecture will focus on his expedition to the Malay Archipelago and the vital importance of his findings there. Not only is this a chance to listen to Sir David first hand but it will also an exercise in stopping this Darwin fella from hogging the spotlight, the swine!
