[views through binoculars] “Yes sir, they seem to be
suckling from it. A giant inflatable pig, yes.” (Full
disclosure: I stole this quasi-joke from elsewhere)

There are two quotes in this section which I, the guy
writing this, actively enjoyed reading: the pull quote on
the Warwick Davis interview, and Gruff Rhys’ anecdote
about a Heather Jones gig. Good work, gents
12festival guide
Twelve pages of snappy, sometimes snippy and
hopefully not sloppy summations of interesting
festivals – Welsh or otherwise – by the score. None of
the ones I go to are in there, though, as they are too
cool and underground for you squares
29fashion
From a pink-brimmed fedora to a “Native American
Indian War Headdress”, there really is something for
everyone in our pictorial guide to festival fashion

The mirthsome quotes keep coming thanks to veteran
UK house DJ Paul Trouble Anderson, who promises
his set in late May will contain “troubsolute quality”.
Anything else would be a troubnormal occurrence
which would make him feel quite troubject

Cheeky spoiler for you: according to Buzz’s reviewers
there are no actively crap albums at all released this
month! Everything has at least three stars with a few
scattered fives. The moral of this story is that the
Swans album is GREAT

A look at the Welsh Stoneskimming Championships,
held this month in, unsurprisingly, Powys’ village
of the lolrandom Llanwrtyd Wells. Culminates with
something called the “five-stone toss-off”. Haven’t
seen one of them since [DELETED ON BOTH LEGAL
AND MORAL ADVICE]

Pretty keen to see the Frank Sidebottom movie, as it
goes. Bonus if I can watch it with someone who has
the hots for Michael Fassbender and is unaware that
he wears a big papier mâché head throughout
Best joke in these listings is the one concerning
the event at Swansea YMCA on Tue 13 May. I’m not
afraid to admit I had a nice self-satisfied chuckle to
myself when I came up with it, then took the rest of
the day off

Ruth Joseph, Buzz’s reliable recipe repository,
features twice in this section – not only telling us
how to make a nice potato salad, but also letting us
know about tai chi. In the food and drink bit? Yeah, we
thought she said ‘chai tea’ and... etc
Q: Which famous entertainer was quoted as saying
“He’s next” about Barry Manilow? A: John Hinckley Jr
