WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED
Doctor Who fans, brace yourselves. It’s finally arrived. The new series of the iconic TV show
returns to BBC One on Sat 23 Aug, following its world premiere screening in St David’s
Hall earlier on in the month. With Peter Capaldi, best known for his shouty, sweary role as
Malcolm Tucker in political comedy The Thick Of It, starring as the twelfth Doctor the flavour
of the show’s very protagonist is a mystery. However the show’s writer, Steven Moffat,
promises a trickier and fiercer character than the Doctor’s previous regenerations.
Other new fasces to the series include Keeley Hawes (of Line Of Duty and Ashes To Ashes
fame), comedian Sanjeev Bhaskar (best known as the host of The Kumars At No. 42) and
Michelle Gomez (who is usually seen strolling hospital corridors on the set of sitcom Green
Wing as the sidesplitting and surreal liaison officer Sue White).
Doctor Who World Premiere, St. David’s Hall, Cardiff, Fri 7 Aug. Tickets: £6-£11. Info:
