DELIVERIES / ORDERS BYD USA ADDED 3 Frederick County TransIT Frederick County, Maryland BYD (Build Your Dreams) announced it has delivered three U.S.-built battery-electric K7M buses to Transit Services of Frederick County, Maryland (TransIT). The narrow streets of Frederick, which are lined with historic brick buildings, a notable region of colonial United States, are a perfect fit for BYD’s quiet zero-emission 30-foot K7M battery electric buses. Already, TransIT drivers prefer the BYD buses to navigate the tree-lined byways of Frederick. TransIT provides public transit, paratransit and commuter services/employer outreach information throughout Frederick County, serving medical, employment, education and shopping centers. ADDED 10 Link Transit Wenatchee, Washington BYD announced it has completed the delivery of 10 battery-electric K9S buses to Link Transit in Wenatchee, Washington, a milestone for the company has production ramps up following a temporary plant closure in Mid-March from the COVID-19 pandemic. The final two buses of the order were recently delivered, joining the eight others that had been delivered prior to the COVID-19 shutdown. The buses were the first to be completed by BYD after reopening its plant. The K9S 35-ft electric bus, manufactured at BYD’s factory in Lancaster, California, has a range of up to 215 miles, seats up to 32, and can be fully charged in three to four hours. Motor Coach Industries (MCI) Alexander Dennis Limited / BYD Europe ADDED 9 Transport Clément Bégin Sainte-Germaine-Boule, Western Quebec, Canada Transport Clément Bégin purchased nine new J4500s to shuttle mining personnel nearly 100 miles to a remote site in Northern Quebec seven days a week. These are the very first new MCI coaches for the leading charter and school bus company, named after the founder, and now in its third generation of family leadership and 61st year. Built with a semimonocoque low-corrosion stainless steel body, the MCI J4500 is ideally suited to long-distance employee shuttles. Offering a modern, spacious interior and best-in-class legroom, Clément Bégin’s new coaches have a 52-passenger seating capacity. The model’s lighter weight, next-generation Cummins X12 engine, new for model year 2020, improves fuel economy and extends the J4500’s low total cost of operation even further. ADDED 29 National Express West Midlands Birmingham, United Kingdom Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and BYD Europe jointly announced that their electric vehicle partnership, the UK’s leading electric bus producer, has supplied the first of 29 BYD ADL Enviro400EV double deckers to National Express West Midlands, where they are charged entirely by renewable energy and utilise a stationery battery system to balance the load on the electricity grid. The 10.9-meter long buses are built to National Express’s Platinum standard, offering extra legroom for 65 seated passengers as well as USB chargers, free Wi-Fi and other amenities.
