America's Hannah Kearney won the women's moguls freestyle skiing gold Saturday, beating Canada's Jennifer Heil, who notched the host country's first medal of these Games, into second place.
Kearney, who was in top spot after qualifying, scored 26.63 points, with 2006 Olympic champion Heil scoring 25.69. Shannon Bahrke of the United States won the bronze with 25.43 points.

The event also gave the United States its second multiple-medal performance of the evening as the bronze medal was won by Shannon Bahrke (Tahoe City, Calif.), who had a score of 25.43. Bahrke was the silver medalist in the event in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games.
Kearney became the first American to take the women's moguls gold since Donna Weinbrecht won in Albertville in 1992.
