"I skied the way I wanted to ski and that's all I control. There were a lot of good runs today and it just depends on the day how you do so I'm obviously happy to ski the way I did," said Begg-Smith.
"I think it's great that Canada won gold and the crowd was really happy with it and everybody went crazy," added Begg-Smith, who leads the overall World Cup moguls standings.
Little-known American Bryon Wilson, who before December was fully expecting to be watching this event on television at home in Butte, Mont., found himself in the strangest place: clinging to third place. If Colas topped Bilodeau, Wilson would be pushed off the medal stand.
"It's been my goal to really get here and perform my best," Wilson said.
Besides skiing, Wilson also found time for a hobby that has turned into a profitable little business. He sells the life-size wood carvings of fish that he makes, and which have earned him blue medals in many competitions.
