Like to know more about major new industrial projects, our regional water supply, roadway projects, city plans on all kinds of topics or anything connected to our Infrastructure, broadly defined? Well then the Chamber has a committee for you. The Chamber Infrastructure Committee, which is open to all members, meets on the second Friday of the month at 8:30 am at the Port of Corpus Christi offices at 222 Power. Between 25 and 30 Chamber members and public officials regularly attend these meetings which last about one hour. The agenda usually covers two or more topics. Examples of recent topics covered by expert speakers include construction of the new Harbor Bridge, analysis of wastewater plant consolidation, update on desalination efforts, the Corpus Christ MPO Bike Plan, a report on City capital projects, the new Police Chief’s plans, and interacting with the media. And, that is just the topics covered this year through May. Last year representatives from M & G Chemicals, Voestalpine, and TPCO America, among others, spoke to the group about their projects, and the Port provided a number of sessions on various topics. While admittedly many of the regular attendees are engineers, the goal is more oriented to keeping folks up to date on plans and infrastructure rather than focusing on the technical aspects of projects. Questions are encouraged, and the discussions can be lively. So, if you have an interest, then please attend or contact Ginny Cross ([email protected]) to be added to the email list. If you have a topic for consideration, get in touch with Ginny or the Committee Chair Leah Olivarri ([email protected] or 884-5000). Please note that we have outgrown the Port space and are looking for a new location so double check with one of them if you are not able to attend until August or beyond.
