Bumps, Babes, and Beyond Winter 2017/18 | Page 6

Introducing you

I am Tania, married to Magnus and mummy to Maia (3) and Leo (6 months).

About your branch role

I am the new Branch Coordinator which means I help lead the branch and its regular monthly meetings and I am the link between the Staines, Ashford & Egham NCT branch and the national charity.

What’s your top mummy tip?

Tell your children you love them, every day (love from their Mummy is one of the few things in life, that they should always take for granted.) And on a more practical note- always pack a spare t-shirt for yourself in the changing bag. There are just too many ways for a baby or child to ruin your outfit.

What do you enjoy most about being a parent?

Seeing the world through their eyes. My daughter is 3.5 years old and every days she notices something or makes a comment which helps me see the world from a different, fresh and often hilarious perspective.

What’s been your biggest parenting challenge?

Managing my career alongside my family. It requires a lot of flexibility and multi-tasking, and it helps to have a boss who’s on your side. Also I have to say it requires genuine equality in a relationship. The kids come first for both of you and no ones’ job can be “more important” than the other one, if you both have a career and are trying to make it work.

What do you do to relax?

See friends, eat nice food and occasionally find time for the biggest parental luxuries of them all – sleeping and drinking hot tea!

Who would you most like to have dinner with and why?

The Queen. I bet she has amazing stories from the last 90 years!

What skill/ability would you like to learn?

I wish I could play the piano properly. I learnt a little as a child, so I can only play the same few songs.

What is your favourite drink?

Currently Espresso Martinis, but I never met a cocktail I didn't like.
