state of Texas, and they have both
taught me an awful lot about the
game.
I didn’t realize that you
could actually go out and make a
little “change” playing the local
tournaments. I started hitting a
lot of them, and I just plain loved it!
In 2011, I went to the BullShooter
Regional in Houston. I didn’t do
great, but I definitely got my feet
wet. I loved the atmosphere and
excitement, and that made me
practice harder and harder.
I
went to another big tournament,
with my Uncle, and got a 2nd in
the Singles and 2nd in both Men’s
Doubles. From that time forward,
I knew I wanted to be a dart player.
I also knew to be the dart player I
wanted to be, I would have to do
two things--I would have to work
hard at my game, and if I wanted
to become one of the best, I had to
compete against the best. So far it
has worked out pretty good.
Pacer: You certainly have taken
your place among the great players
the state of Texas has produced.
Just what has made Texas such a
dart hot bed? Donnie Ramcharan
has long been a quality player and
then Leonard Gates exploded on
the darting scene and now you,
Alex Reyes has become a world
class shooter, it’s amazing.
Alex: Well sir, thanks for saying
that, but I think my willingness
to work each and every day on my
game has helped me be successful.
Believe me, there are a lot of great

players in Texas who, because of family or work commitments, cannot fully dedicate themselves to the time
and traveling that it takes to
become a world class player.
Take a look at the Regional
we had in Houston recently. It was one of the most
successful Regionals ever
and that’s because many
Texas darters look at the
BullShooter Regional as the highlight of their darting year and support it in record numbers.
Pacer: Speaking of that Regional,
you had a fantastic weekend. You
took a 1st in Pro Singles, a 1st
in Pro Doubles 501 with Ramiro
Guevara, a 1st in Mixed Cricket
with Shea Reynolds, and a 2nd in
Pro/Am with Damon Alvear.
Alex: Yes sir, it was a real good,
exciting weekend!
Pacer: All of the success you’ve
had this year followed a great performance at the BullShooter World
Tournament in May. You came in
1st in Pro Doubles with Ramiro,
and placed very well in the Super
13 Singles and the Pro ‘01 Singles.
You have not only played well, you
have played well against some
great competition.
Alex: I firmly believe to be the
best you have to play the best.
For example, I got a big win over
Darin Young in Vegas not long
ago. He was a total gentleman.
He said, man it didn’t matter what
I did, because you just kept coming
back stronger and stronger. That
praise, coming from Darin, meant
the world to me. He has been a
great player longer than I have
been alive.
Pacer: Alex, this old darter is really impressed with what you have
accomplished in such a short time.
At 27 years of age your potential is

unlimited. Is there anything you
want to add before we wrap it up?
Alex:
I recently signed with
L Style and Red Eye Rhino has
helped me tremendously.
I’m
blessed to have them both. I’m
really excited about all of the future possibilities that the game
of darts holds for me. Even my
Mom, Alma, and Dad, Manuel, are
behind me. They thought it was
strange that their son was spending all this time playing a silly
game like darts, but I talked them
into coming to a tournament, and I
won both Singles and it was really
exciting for them. Really, I have to
mention all of my darting friends,
parnters and teammates.
Plus I
couldn’t do any of it without the
blessing of my wife, Jennifer. With
their friendship, love and support,
I plan on being right in the middle
of all of the great things coming to
the game of darts. As long as God
gives me the power to do it, I plan
on being right in the middle of it.
Pacer:
Alex Reyes has turned
hard work and dedication into a
budding dart career. Besides the
major tournaments here in the
United States, he plans trips to
Hawaii, Canada, and Japan this
year. That practice board has got
a lot of miles on it.
