acer’s age In today’s troubled economy, the state of Texas has been a rare bright spot. Its investment in energy and technology has led to prosperity and low unemployment. The last several years, Texas has also been a leader in another product. It has, and continues to produce, one terrific dart player after another. This thrower is the latest player from the Lone Star State to make his mark on the darting world. Let’s talk darts with Alex Reyes. Alex lives in San Antonio and is employed by W Industries as an oil field electrician. He was married last year in Las Vegas to his wife, Jennifer. In four short years, he has taken his place among the growing number of darters who call Texas their home. Like many successful shooters, his rise on the dart scene has been a direct result of the hard work and practice that he has put into it. Alex Reyes Pacer: Alex, just how did you manage to hold down a demanding job like an oil field electrician and still have time to pursue your dart career? Alex: It really is hard work, and we work a lot of hours. But I made the decision to practice every day no matter what. No matter where I’m working, I take my board with me. When I get back to my motel room, even if I’m beat tired, I push myself to practice. I think my work ethic is my ace in the hole, and I’m going to work as hard as I have to, to keep improving. My practice board is like a Visa card, I don’t leave home without it! Also, I’m really lucky to have a great boss who plays darts himself and has been more than fair about let- ting me have the time to travel to tournaments and everything. Pacer: I’m sure a company like W Industries is proud to have a world class dart thrower working for them. Tell us Alex, how did it all get started? Alex: Well sir, my Uncle Roger Sosa was a well known dart thrower in the San Antonio area. He invited me to come and watch one of his league matches.
