“ Mardi Gras Safety ... for tweens and teens
1 . Know that you are a gift from God and it is important for you to stay safe while having fun during the Mardi Gras season .
2 . Keep cell phone numbers for your parents , guardians , and other trusted adults with you at all times . Call a trusted adult if at any time , you feel uncomfortable with where you are or the people you are with .
3 . You can actually have more fun without the use of drugs or alcohol . Be careful who gives you drinks and who holds your drinks for you .
4 . How you dress is a reflection of who you are . Dress modestly , even it it is a costume , to show that you have respect for the person God created you to be .
5 . Posting and sending pictures of yourself or others is permanent . Don ’ t take pictures of anyone if they are dressed inappropriately . Be aware that others can take pictures of anything you are doing and post them anywhere . There can be permanent consequences for these actions .
6 . You have a promising future — don ’ t compromise it with actions or words during
Mardi Gras . 7 . Go to the police if you at any time feel frightened or threatened . 8 . Let us pray for each other and for all who will be out enjoying themselves in order that we will have a happy and safe Mardi Gras .”
