I ’ m incredibly proud to have led Team CIRO in the Circle Line Rail Trail Walk in support of CIRO ’ s charity partner , The Railway Children . It was amazing to join seven of my colleagues for this fantastic ( though quite exhausting ) challenge . Knowing we were helping such a vital cause for vulnerable children made all the tiredness worthwhile !
The day was tough , with rain for most of the walk , but as a team , we had plenty of laughs to keep us going ! The volunteers cheering us on at each station were a much-needed boost as we went along the Circle Line route . Reaching the finish line at Paddington after six hours of walking was a huge relief !
On behalf of Team CIRO , I ’ d like to express our heartfelt thanks to CIRO customers , our families , and friends for their generous donations and support . Thanks to you , we have so far raised over £ 1,000 for The Railway Children – amazing !
Members of the CIRO Team were very proud to have taken part , sharing : “ This has been such a great day raising money for something so worthwhile , and successfully taking on a physical challenge is an amazing feeling ! So proud to support the Railway Children and their work , take part and own the commemorative T-shirt and medal .” Poppy Tuppenney , Learning and Development Coordinator
“ Participating in the Rail Trail was both physically demanding and hugely rewarding . The sense of achievement , combined with the knowledge that we ’ re contributing to the safety and future of at-risk children , is something I ’ ll always remember .” Jamie George , CIRO EPA Invigilator
“ Being a part of the Rail Trail not only allowed us to support the Railway Children but also gave us a chance to connect with colleagues and experience London in a unique way . It ’ s an event I ’ d recommend to anyone !” Sally Hughes The CIRO Team not only supported the Railway Children ’ s fund-raiser- but also enjoyed the unique opportunity to explore London , take on a challenge and join the camaraderie of the event . Passing through Hyde Park , Notting Hill , Kensington and Chelsea , Baker Street , the Victoria Embankment of the River Thames , Big Ben , St Paul ’ s Cathedral , The Monument for the Great Fire of London , and the London Eye , there was no shortage of photo opportunities for the CIRO Team and their fellow participantsand plenty of sights to enjoy along the route . Despite the weather , it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all involved and another highly successful event for the Railway Children .
As CIRO ’ s charity partner , we are proud to support the Railway Children and their essential cause . Railway Children provides front-line support to thousands
of children forced to leave their homes each year due to poverty , abuse , violence and neglect .
CIRO extends their congratulations not just to the team of 8 that participated on their behalf , but also to the Railway Children on the success of their third Rail Trail event . The event has raised over £ 30,000 so far , which will no doubt extend the difference made to vulnerable children across the UK , India and Tanzania .
The Railway Children frequently hold fundraising events , including walks , hikes , and sleep-outs , plus they are always ready to support raffles , bake sales and other small fundraisers . It ’ s never too late to get involved or volunteer your support , and there ’ s always something interesting and worthwhile to participate in if you wish to support the Railway Children , find out more at : www . railwaychildren . org . uk / get-involved /
We look forward to joining more events in the future and hopes to see you there !
