BMDAM 39th Annual General Meeting Members assured of Association’ s support in challenging times ahead.
WITH A CALL to order, the 39th Annual General Meeting of the Building Materials Distributors Association Malaysia( BMDAM) convened on 30th June 2016 at its premises with incumbent President, Mr Yang Kian Lock( Sudut Swasta Sdn Bhd) in the chair. Prior to commencement of the day’ s formal business, attendees were treated to a viewing of BMDAM’ s corporate video and presentation of BMDAM’ s activities / events held in 2015, including dialogues with Government agencies( MIDA, CIDB, MITI, SIRIM, JKR) and private sector organisations( ASEAN-MyMarket, OCBC, BCIAsia, Capital Dynamics), exhibitions, networking and training sessions, seminars and workshops, business-matching events and social gatherings.

Incumbent President’ s Address BMDAM has come a long way since 1976, Yang remarked in his keynote address, attributing the Association’ s continued well-being to the“ commitment and dedication of past EXCOs” and its membership. In the vision to see the organisation grow, it is reckoned that, aside from increasing numbers in membership, there is a need to re-brand the Association and‘ get more involved in the market.’ In closing, Yang highlighted two recent, and significant, developments, namely, the launch of BMDAM’ s Facebook page and re-instatement, after a two-year dearth, of the contract with CIDB for compilation / update / monthly submission of( building) material pricing data.
Matters of Money Notwithstanding BMDAM’ s‘ sound’ financial status for the period ending 31st December 2015, Honorary Treasurer Mr Yee Khee Tong( Chin Ho & Co.( Malaya) Sdn Bhd) remarked that income from the CIDB contract will boost revenues, in addition to that being and / or to be generated in existing and future fund-raising projects. In support of the said contract, and to facilitate timely submission, members are reminded to contribute, promptly, the relevant data and / or updates. ■
