Wordsmith is a songwriter , performer , entrepreneur , and philanthropist from Baltimore , MD . Studying Radio / TV at Morgan State University , Wordsmith completed his college education at Salisbury University with a major in Performing Arts ( Music / Theater ). In 2009 , he opened his independent label NU Revolution Entertainment followed by his nonprofit , Rise with a Purpose , Inc . in 2020 . Wordsmith is a Grammy Voting Member ; songwriter for programming on Netflix , ESPN , NFL Network ; and has released eight albums during his career .

While nationally known for her recurring roles in HBO ’ s “ The Wire ” and “ The Corner ,” Broom is also a storyteller and dancer with more than 40 years of experience performing and teaching across the globe . A Fulbright scholar and former television reporter in Baltimore and Miami , she is currently on the theater faculty at the Baltimore School for the Arts . Broom is the author of the children ’ s book The Village Bully and is often requested to conduct staff retreats , workshops , and school residencies .
