Free Community Concerts Kick-off the Season
Just days before the season opening Gala concert , the BSO under the baton of Associate Conductor Jonathan Rush looked beyond our halls to present two , free community concerts .
On Wednesday , September 14 , our first Symphony in the City program of the year brought the Orchestra to the Enoch Pratt Central Library . A series made possible by Presenting Sponsor BGE , Symphony in the City is our initiative to bring the Orchestra to the citizens of Baltimore where they are — in churches , libraries , parks , museums and more . Upbeat pieces like Duke Ellington ’ s Medley for Orchestra had the audience nodding their heads and clapping their hands , with Maestro Rush providing context and conversation from the podium . The very next day , the Baltimore Symphony partnered with Montgomery College to present the same program to a full , enthusiastic house at the Parilla Performing Arts Center in Rockville .
Community sits at the very core of Symphony in the City and Music for Maryland , the latter our initiative to visit every single Maryland County by Summer 2024 .
Visit BSOmusic . org to learn about our next series of Symphony in the City programming this season , and stay tuned for more details on how you can experience the Orchestra across Maryland this summer .
