I n October , Governing Members joined members of the Board , Orchestra , and staff for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra ' s Annual Meeting . In keeping with tradition , the evening began with music , with selections for solo cello from Associated Principal Cellist Lachezar Kostov . Opening the meeting , Allison Burr-Livingstone , Senior Vice President & Chief Advancement Officer recapped highlights of the season concluded in August by unveiling the 2021 – 22 Annual Review . The announcement of donor support being the catalyst to bring the magic of symphonic music and the Orchestra to more than 340,000 audience members of all ages across and beyond Maryland , was met with applause from the guests in the lobby of the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall .
Board Chair Barry Rosen reported on the State of the Orchestra , acknowledging

outgoing and newly elected members of the Board of Directors . President & CEO Mark Hanson closed the meeting with reflections on the first six months of his tenure and a look ahead , including exciting plans to welcome Music Director Jonathon Heyward through an expansive , three-day Gala celebration with performances at Strathmore , at the Meyerhoff , and as part of the return of Artscape .
An opportunity for fellowship , the evening ' s celebration transitioned to a social gathering in the Meyerhoff ' s most modern , second-floor lounge , Second Space . With refreshments and light fare provided by Culinary Architecture , donors , Board members , musicians , and staff reveled in reconnecting with each other and reaffirming a shared commitment to the Orchestra ’ s brightest future .
Events like the Annual Meeting , and publications like the Annual Report , provide an opportunity for the BSO to expand on the impact of donor and public support with candor and transparency . Equally important , to establish a foundational baseline as we forge ahead , together .
