Introducing the Families Listen Together Program
As part of an extraordinary gift from the Sherman Family Foundation, the BSO is proud to present the new Families Listen Together program. To celebrate, Music Director Jonathon Heyward will conduct his first-ever concerts for youth and family audiences this fall. On October 30( Midweek Education Concert Series) and November 1( Family Day Concert), thousands of area school children and families will experience Jonathon leading The Dead Composers Society, a program where music and mystery reign supreme, featuring special guest narrator Dan Rodricks.

Two New Faces on the Podium
The BSO is proud to welcome new conducting staff joining the organization this fall: Jiannan Cheng as Assistant Conductor, and Tatiana Pérez- Hernández as Conducting Fellow for the 2025 – 26 season.
Cheng is an award-winning conductor equally at home in opera and symphonic repertoire. She has led major ensembles across Europe, including the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, and Munich Chamber Orchestra. Cheng is the current Music Director of Orchestra Concordia and the Rowan University Symphony Orchestra.
In her role, Cheng will lead select Special, summer, and community concerts, as well as Midweek Education and Family concerts.
Pérez-Hernández is a rising conductor and cellist from Colombia. Winner of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá ' s " Women Conductors " competition, she has served as Resident Conductor of the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra and as a Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellow.
As Conducting Fellow, Pérez- Hernández will lead Side-by-Side education concerts and serve as cover conductor for select classical programs throughout the season.
INSIDE THE CLASSICS EXPANDS
New this season, audiences will be able to enjoy Inside the Classics pre-concert talks before every Classical Collection concert at the Meyerhoff and Strathmore. Inside the Classics invites patrons to explore our classical programs more in-depth, with captivating discussions hosted by Dr. Rachel Franklin in the Lockheed Martin Lobby at Strathmore, and Dr. Anna Celenza and Dr. David Hildebrand in the Meyerhoff auditorium. Discussions start approximately one hour prior to the concert.
