In order to re-brand an un-leased commercial office
building, the owner renovated the building interior and
asked the landscape architect to develop a design for
the building entry landscape.
The resulting design creates an exterior space that fosters
social interaction among the building users, removes
excess pavement, introduces more green space, and
provides a highly interesting graphic when viewed from
the office windows above. Linear bands of planting and
paving with contrasting textures provide strong linear
form that draw fro m the vocabulary of the building
architecture. The designer employed bands of contrasting
textures of hardscape using different paving materials
and planting of deciduous and evergreen shrubs,
perennials and bulbs, to create a bold graphic design
when viewed from the office windows and provide
interest in all four seasons.
