Oil effects in our fauna is very wide due to the great diversity of marine organisms. The effects in direct contamination include the oil adheres to the fur, feathers and scales which makes it difficult and even prevents migrations, movements, and other functions of these living beings.

PETROLEUM: a

GREAT POLLUTER

As a consequence of this, fish, marine mammals, and birds die. Also, petroleum in oceans reduces the oxygen of water which causes the death of the plankton such as algae, bacteria, mollusks and crustaceans and also of fish.

And finally, the majority of the animals that eat these organisms die. The seabed is also being injured when the fossil fuel reaches the bottom of the river. This kills and causes effects on the benthic fauna and flora. Animals are having more infections and the oil is the cause of the decrease in resistance.
