The Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) is responsible for regulating the AI-powered medical devices or similar solutions . Likewise , the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ( HIPAA ) governs the use of the information to train AI models . In the absence of formal regulations guiding the use of GenAI in healthcare , the onus lies on the early adopters of this technology to ensure that Protected Health Information ( PHI ) is not at risk .
