Captains' Inside adventure!
Opening the pages into the school life of our female 2014 Captain Karli.
Starting her school life at Brighton-Le-Sands Public School in 2008, Karli is in her last year of primary. She was given a life-changing opportunity to be the School Captain and since the start of 2014 she has stated that it has been an amazing adventure.
Outside of her captaincy Karli loves to dance. She has succeeded in countless competitions and has performed nationally. Academically she has proven to shine, and is said to have come out of her shell due to the encouragement of many of her teachers. Other than her passion for dancing, Karli loves to lead her school with a bright smile. Karli enjoys the roles and has been willing and up for every challenge that crosses her.
With a bubbly, wilful, courageous, funny, out there, athletic, modest and proud personality, Karli has well and truly fulfilled the role of School Captain and looks forward to the many challenges that await her.
From one School Captain to another, I have taken on the role of interviewing Karli…
Billy: Hello Karli, im just gonna run thorugh are few questions.
Karli: Yes, sure.
Billy: We are about half-way through the year and as a Captain how has it been?
Karli: Yeah um… It has been a really pleasurable experience so far, especially with all of the opportunities that we have been given throughout the year. I have loved the events we have attended and doing things that I have never explored before.
Billy: You must be very busy with all the extracurricular activities. How do you manage such a hectic schedule?
Karli: Yes, things do get into a bit of a hassle but we do get partnered up with a Prefect or Captain every term and as we all help each other out, the pressure gets lifted off our shoulders when we know that we can rely on someone.
Billy: So far, what has been your biggest challenge as a Captain that you have had to tackle?
Karli: My biggest challenge as a Captain that I have had to tackle, hmm… to be honest I would have to say all and none in a way. In some ways, things do get hard but we always pull through and our tasks seem simple if you understand what I am saying.
Billy: I understand that you get to work with your co-captain, Billy, so honestly, what is your opinion on the handsome chap? (I joke)
Karli: Haha, Billy is mature when it comes to his duties, he is also very helpful. I am glad to have Billy as my partner in crime (co-captain). He is a problem solver and gets the job done in a fun yet effective way.
Billy: Back last year when the process of trying to get nominated as Prefect or Captain must have been high pressured. How did you deal with the situation?
Karli: It was very high pressured. I was quite nervous and stressed, nearly pulling my hair out. Yet to my surprise, I coped with the situation by thinking positively and keeping calm. Not doubting myself and not ruining my confidence, but at the same time I didn’t build my confidence and cockiness too high and was prepared to be disappointed if I wasn’t successful. It pulled off in the end though.
