Bridging the Gap (Interior Major Project) | Page 30

PARTI DIAGRAMS. Figure 79. Figure 80. Figure 81. Within the Bridging the Gap scheme inside the Royal Garrison Church, the site will be divided into several zones that cater for the needs of the users. From the insight of research for what’s required within a cafe, a large kitchen, serving area and WC’s are the primary needs within the space. Starting with cuboid elements is a simple way of dividing a large space, as it allows linear growth within how each zone interacts with each other overtime. Taking into consideration that most visitors will visit to use all aspects of the space, the circulation within the project will be one of the importance to apply into. The circulation within the space is designed to force interaction with other visitors, creating social scenarios all over the building. Having two entrances and four exits, the building will have large amounts of foot traffic coming from various parts of the building. Once the zones are fitted to the spaces that they have been placed in, I was able to fragment each shape to create a unique concept and design. Removing the linear shapes edges allows more room for abstract circulation, creating a unique design layout. The fragments within the building do not come into contact with the original structure, sticking to conservation guidelines. By making the structure temporary yet solid, the space can be reconstructed within over time if desired. Page | 29
