Bridging the Gap (Interior Major Project) | Page 27

SKETCHBOOK DEVELOPMENT. Early developments of the nave of the church started by dividing the zones needed to make a community centre/cafe. I began this process by fragmenting the different areas within the public area, then slowly adding planters and seating. Each design initially came with its challenges, however, from overlaying plans and altering the zones, I was able to create a design that worked well for the user. Figure 67. Figure 65. This atmospheric sketches shows the early stages of the design and material choices, working around the existing pillars and incorporating the kitchen and cafe space. Figure 68. Figure 66. As fragments can come in all unpredictable shapes, I decided to create an outside alternative entrance/exit to a growing garden, where users of the space can grow Figure 69. vegetables for the kitchen.
